Dear Parent/Guardian:
Northern Valley Schools is implementing a new and innovative program at your child’s school. Attached is some information on our new Internet-based software, ParentConnectXP. ParentConnectXP allows parents to access their children’s school information via the Internet. By signing up over the web to receive a password, parents can see basic demographic information, assignments, grades, attendance, and school information.
We are very excited to be able to offer this service to NorthernValley parents. NorthernValley parents have a unique opportunity to become directly involved in their student’s education by being able to view student information.
Security with this program is, of course, very important. The data displayed through ParentConnectXP is just a read-only mirror image of our actual data files. The actual data remains protected behind our firewall. Parents should also know that the student data is encrypted (coded) as it is transferred over the web. Secure passwords are the key to keeping student information private and available only to authorized persons.
To sign up for ParentConnectXP…
! Go to our website at www.nvhuskies.org and access the ParentConnectxp Apple Icon
! Click on PARENT CONNECTxp
! Click on the “Register” button
! Fill in all fields (Enter child’s FULL First, Middle and Last name)
! Click on “Submit”
! Register only ONCE.
You will need to come to your school’s main office 4 to 5 days after registering. For confidentiality and security reasons, you must provide a picture ID in order to receive your User ID and Password information. You will also be asked to sign a Parental Use and Responsibility Acknowledgement Statement. Students will not be allowed to pick up the password information for the parent.
Users can then log in from home and change their system-generated password to whatever they choose. We suggest you make your password something that others cannot guess about you. Easily guessed passwords include initials, birth dates, and pet names. We also ask that you make every effort to keep your password secure. District policy dictates that we ensure the privacy of all our students with regards to student data. Please help us to keep our student data secure by guarding your password.
While we don’t expect the Internet to take the place of regular teacher-parent contacts, we see ParentConnectXP as a powerful school-to-home communication tool. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns about the new software. Call at 785-669-2445 or email:

The Internet-based program that links parents and teachers
Parent involvement is critical to the success of a student’s education. In today’s fast paced environment families have less time to interact than ever! NCS Pearson, the leading provider of K-12 software solutions is proud to announce their latest innovative product, ParentCONNECTxp.
ParentCONNECTxp is an ingenious Internet based program that allows parents to get more involved in their child’s day-to-day education. It gives parents timely information about their child’s progress in school. With a click of the mouse parents will have access to grades, attendance, assignments, discipline, and even their child’s teacher.
All parents need to get started is Internet access and a browser (Internet Explorer 5.0 or greater, AOL 5.0 or greater, Netscape 4.7 or greater) and an e-mail account. They will then get a password that allows them to sign-on and view timely student information in a secure, user-friendly environment.
Parent Web Interface:
Student Information - Basic demographic information about a student including: parents, address, emergency contacts etc.
Assignments - A student’s homework assignments that are due and the grades on previous completed assignments are displayed in a report or table format.
Grades – Quarterly report cards and past transcripts can be viewed and printed with a click of the mouse.
Attendance – Current and historical absence and tardy information is available in a report or calendar format.
Discipline – Monitoring disciplinary incidents in a timely manner can be key to keeping a student on track.
School Information – Pertinent information about the school, staff, and announcements are accessible to parents.
(Some of the above options may not be available, depending on school setup.)
Additional features include:

can decide to be automatically notified by e-mail of absences,
tardies, missing assignments or discipline incidents.

ParentCONNECTxp offers security by providing read-only access to data. Replicated (‘mirror-image’) data provided by the underlying base product databases remains safely protected behind the firewall. Parents/students information is protected by encrypting data as it is transferred over the web. ParentCONNECTxp utilizes existing information provided by SASIxp, InteGrade Pro to ensure up-to-date student information with limited, if any, data entry required on the part of the teacher or district personnel.
