WHAT A TEAM!
Jordan Herman,NVEA, and Local Photographer team up
by LARYL ROUS
February 21, 2008
Northern Valley Educators Association, visually impaired NVHS student Jordan Herman, and local photographer / graphic designer Gwen Lang pooled their talents for a very successful fund raiser during February.
Jordan used his braille writing machine to type messages on custom Valentines. Customers were able to select a photo or valentine of their choice and then Jordan customized the message in braille. Members of the NVEA sold the cards before and after school, as well as the two home basketball games held before the 14th. Customers had the option of paying $5 and getting the braille message translation included in the card, or $4 and the recipient having to pay $1 to find out what the card said and who it was from.
The organization was able to raise $300 for their scholarship fund and Jordan was able to make some money for his efforts. Gwen Lang (her web site www.madisonlangdesigns.com) donated the photographs and the cards/envelopes.
Besides the customized greeting cards, other area photos are available for purchase. Her work can be viewed online or at the Garden Gate Flower shop in Norton.
It was very interesting to see the messages and the photos
selected.
