Sub-State Tournament against Hoxie

One would think that scoring 73 points on the night would surely give you a victory. Well, on this night 73 was not enough as Hoxie put in 90. Hoxie had been in a shooting slump during the last two games but not in this game as they shot 57% from the field (that includes 57% from behind – way behind, the “3” point line) and 64 % from the line. We, ourselves, shot well, 50% from behind the “3” point line, 58% on field goals and 56% from the line. The Indians just took more shots on the night. Reason – they committed fewer turnovers which allowed them more shots. We even out rebounded the taller Hoxie squad. We just must learn to “value” the ball even more when next season rolls around.

On the evening we had 16 deflects with Jessica Largent, Joni Hilburn, Staci Dole and Alison Cole each touching 3 while Megan Cole deflected 2.

Steals were gathered in by Christina Anderson and Alison C with 3 each as Megan C and Dole each swiped 2.

Rebounding honors went to Alison C as she raked 9 off the boards followed by Largent with 6 and Anderson with 4.

Assists were plentiful in this game as one would expect with this team and with as many points as we scored. Dole and Anderson each found 7 teammates open for scores while Hilburn found 6 and Megan C found 4.

I can not say enough about the effort these young ladies gave throughout the season. They fought each and every night and hopefully gave the fans some excitement during the season.

We will miss the contributions of our seniors Jessica Largent and Joni Hilburn as they will be missed but we will start to prepare for next season as this was just the beginning of what we hope will be an exciting time for Lady Husky basketball.

We end the season with many accomplishments, some not achieved for many seasons, but all this could not have been accomplished without the support from our cheerleaders and the fans. We greatly appreciate both and the positive support we received throughout the year.
