Dear Parents / Guardians,
Oh Yeah …… It’s May …… Oh Yeah …… It’s May……. At least that is what the KIDS are saying. :-) We are heading into the final month of classes for this year ……. With all of the excitement for spring and finally some decent weather for track meets ….. we get distracted that we STILL have three weeks of school left. :-) Let’s try to keep them focused on the tasks at hand ….. then they can enjoy the time off starting on the 21st.
Witty quotes …. Confidence in nonsense is a requirement of the creative process. Anonymous
This week was again a busy one. The kids made representations of the planets in relation to the distance from the sun. One centimeter equaled ten million kilometers. The paper strips had the Sun on one end and Pluto on the other, with a length of over 600 centimeters (six meters). We have displayed several of these around the school …… but it is hard to find a place long enough to do that. :-)
Witty quotes ….. Never go to bed mad ….. Stay up and fight. Phyllis Diller
On Wednesday, April 30th ….. the fifth and sixth grade students made May Day baskets and distributed them around to the residents of Long Island. I know we should have waited until Thursday to do it …… because that IS May Day …… but here were the reasons we chose to do it early: 1. We did not know what Thursday weather was going to be like. 2. Over half of the sixth grade students would be at a track meet. 3. Mrs. Baird would also be at the track meet and miss out. 4. It was such an incredibly nice Wednesday, we wanted to go out and enjoy it.
Next week is the Jr. High Awards Banquet in Long Island. Be sure to set aside time on Friday evening to come and enjoy this event as we celebrate the accomplishments of your children. It is a potluck supper, so there will be a number of wonderful dishes.
Witty quotes ….. Good judgment comes from experience ….. and often, experience comes from bad judgment. Rita Mae Brown
Next week also marks the day we get to be in Logan for the League track meet. The wonderful thing about this meet is that you can watch and cheer on both the Jr. High and High School teams. The Jr. High portion starts at 2:00 PM and the High School part starts @ 3:00 PM …… so events of both will be operating at the same time.
Okay ….. I know it is a rare thing …… but I am out of things to tell you at this time ……. I know …. I know …… Keep the applause to a low rumble ….. will ya? I hope you have a great weekend. I will have more zip next week … Hopefully. :-)
Witty quotes …… Wonder is the beginning of wisdom. Greek Proverb
