About Mrs. Spooner

By Kayne Spooner

August 03, 2008

Welcome NVHS Families! I look forward to being your student’s guide as we explore the wonders of science. I would like to share with you a little about who I am and where I come from. I also look forward to learning more about your students during the school year.

Many of you have seen me at basketball games around the cake raffle where I help out as a Sophomore Sponsor. I love sports and look forward to attending many of NVHS’s events throughout the year. I also enjoy music and love the opportunity to hear the band and vocals.

During my free time I enjoy fishing, boating and camping with my family along with our lab. My husband, Dave, teaches Horticulture and Landscape at the Norton Correctional Facility. My son, Brian, loves baseball and appreciates the warm welcome he’s gotten from the high school students. My daughter, Kate, is 23 and stayed in Boulder where she works as an Analyst..

Before coming to Northern Valley High last January I taught Science for four years at Evergreen High School in Evergreen, Colorado. Before teaching I worked as a geologist doing research and exploration for gold, coal, uranium and water. This was exciting work and involved travel throughout the Western U.S. as well as internationally.

I am really honored to be a part of the teaching staff here at Northern Valley High School and to share in the excitement of learning about our earth, oceans and space beyond.

I look forward to getting to know all of you!
