Northern Valley Forensic Team Wins League Tournament

            The Cheyenne League Forensic meet was hosted by Palco this year.  They put on a great tournament and my appreciation goes out to Danelle Schoenberger for a smooth running day and great hospitality room.  The cookies were not as good as those supplied by Launa and Irma ……… but who can top them? J

            The students attending the event were: Samuel Field, Kenzi Husted, Melissa Hawks, Haley Graham, Patience Coffman, Zach Vincent, Matt Dole, Daniel Field, Tyson Callaway, Jordan Herman, Alex Tharman, Jon Compton, Christina Anderson, Bryant Tharman, Kayla Lowry, and Gunnar Hays. 

            The students left at 8AM with Dr. Griffith, Gale Hays, and Maggie Burger as the sponsors / judges / drivers.  I greatly appreciate every one of the people that have stepped up to help out this year.  I would like to encourage more of you to volunteer to judge.  Once you have done it, you will see how much fun it is, and the nerves will be at ease.  :-) 

            Prior to the event, we had some unexpected events occur that posed the threat of having to cancel some of our entries.  It always amazes me when kids step up to help the team out.  We had several students volunteer to fill those positions, some of them had never even seen their material until Wednesday.  WOW …… talk about impromptu!!

            Out of the eighteen events we entered, thirteen made it to the final round.  Here are those students, their events, and placings:  Jon – Humorous Solo (6^th place), Jordan – Humorous Solo (4^th place), Alex – Humorous Solo (3^rd place), Kenzi & Alex – Improvised Duet Acting (5^th place), Tyson & Jordan – Improvised Duet Acting (3^rd place), Haley – Poetry (4^th place), Kenzi – Poetry (2^nd place), Gunnar – Poetry (1^st place), Matt – Prose (1^st place), Patience – Serious Solo (2^nd place), Christina – Informative (4^th place), Zach – Oration (3^rd place), and Christina & Kayla – Duet Acting (2^nd place). 

            Then to top off the afternoon, the Northern Valley Forensic team won the League Tournament.  WAY TO GO TEAM!!!!!  This was a great way to finish up the tournament season.  Next on the horizon is the annual Dinner – and – a – Show on Monday, April 19^th in the HS auditorium.  We hope to see you there.
