HS Boys BB in McDonald
In McDonald, fans weren't allowed to attend the 'in-person' matchup between these to Western Kansas Liberty League (WKLL) teams, per the Nov. 24 ruling of KSHSAA's Meeting of the Board of Directors. The student athletes contributed great efforts, but the Cougars came away with a 55-49 victory.
"The Huskies played very hard in a tough loss, to a very athletic team in the Cheylin Cougars," said second-year N.V. Boys' Head Coach Kevin Sides. "We have only one returning starter from last year's 16-6 team. The younger Huskies were right in the game to the very end."
Scoring for the Huskies were: Eric Loya, 12; Bailey Sides, 10; Foster Brands, 8; Tharen Cox, 7; Colton Bailey, 5; Kenton Thalheim, 5; and Jeremiah Hansen, 2.
In addition to Head Coach Sides, Assistant Coach Glenn Brands helps direct this year's squad in his second year as the assistant coach. This year's 2020-2021 N.V. High School Boys Roster includes: Seniors: Tharen Cox, Clay Preston, Matthew Yost, Brendon Sammons (injured/reserved); Juniors: Bailey Sides, Eric Loya, Aaron Hendrickson; Sophomores: Foster Brands, Colton Bailey, Kai Cox; Freshmen: Kenton Thalheim, Jeremiah Hansen, Drew Schemper, Brody Preston, Jason Cox. Student Managers are: Aidan Hammond and Kyle Speer.
