HS BB Girls 1.8.2021

On Friday Jan. 8, the N.V.H.S. Lady Huskies faced the Logan/Palco Lady Trojans/Roosters on the hardwoods of Northern Valley High, falling with a final score of 53-28.

"This was our second time facing Logan/Palco," Lady Huskies Head Coach Jodi Cox said.  "The game plan was to hold Logan's leading scorer to under 12 points; and our girls did just that, as she only scored 8.  We have improved a lot since playing them in December and I'm very proud of the girls' effort.

We were close behind {them} going into halftime; but couldn't handle Logan's press in the third quarter as we had 32 turnovers and only shot 18 percent from the field. It's hard to win games with those numbers.  What we did do well was rebound.  We out-rebounded Logan even though they have significant more height than our girls.

Austyn Cox had a double/double with 11 points and 10 rebounds, but most impressive for a point-guard, she had zero turnovers."

Scoring for the Lady Huskies were: Austyn Cox, 11; Aurora Haussermann, 4; Shaylee Vestecka, 4; Jayden Speer, 4; Mary Baird, 4; Braxton Cox, 1.

The Lady Huskies' current record now stands at 0-7.
