HS BB Boys 1/12/21
On Tuesday, Jan. 12, the Northern Valley High School boys' basketball team traveled to Oberlin to secure their first season win, defeating the Decatur Community High School Red Devils 73-38.
"The boys found the winning column by defeating Oberlin," Head Coach Kevin Sides commented. "The Huskies started out quickly in the first quarter and paced out to a 24-9 lead and didn't look back.
With a balanced attack of nine players scoring, the Huskies shared the ball and were hard to defend. It will be a good game to build on, in which we did a lot of good things; but we have many things to correct.
The kids played with great effort and I was extremely pleased how my bench came in and played. Next up is Atwood, this Saturday, and then we host Thunder Ridge on Tuesday.
Scoring for the Huskies were: Foster Brands, 14; Bailey Sides, 13; Jeremiah Hansen, 10; Tharen Cox, 10; Kenton Thalheim, 9; Eric Loya, 7; Clay Preston, 4; Colton Bailey, 4; Drew Schemper, 2.
The Huskies' win puts their record at 1-7 thus far in the season.
In J.V. action, the Huskies beat the Red Devils 28-6.
Scoring for N.V.: Drew Schemper, 6; Colton Bailey, 6; Brody Preston, 4; Aaron Estes-Henrickson, 4; Jeremiah Hansen, 3; Jason Cox, 3; Kai Cox, 2.
The J.V. remains undefeated with a 6-0 record.
