HS BB Boys 1/16/21

Traveling for the second time this week, the N.V.H.S. boys earned another road win, as the Huskies handily defeated the Atwood Buffalo boys 79-46 on Saturday, Jan. 16.

"The Huskies traveled to play its best, complete game of the season," Coach Kevin Sides reported.  "Jumping out to a 44-20 lead at half, the Huskies went on to put 79 {points} on the Buffalos.

Leading the scoring was Eric Loya with 19, who scored the first nine points of the game.  Kenton Thalheim also had 19, Bailey Sides, 15, and Foster Brands 10.  Drew Schemper, coming off the bench with limited playing time, had 8.

It was the first game of the season that this team played well all four quarters.  Offensively this season we have been erratic, but this afternoon we played well throughout.  The defense put a lot of pressure on them all night and sped the Buffaloes and made them play the style we like to play, which was a key," Coach Sides explained.

Scoring for the Huskies were: Eric Loya, 19; Kenton Thalheim, 19; Bailey Sides, 15; Foster Brands, 10; Drew Schemper, 8; Colton Bailey, 4; Clay Preston, 3; Tharen Cox, 1.

This Husky win puts the boys' varsity record at 2-7.

In J.V. boys action, the Huskies defeated the Atwood Buffalos 45-33.

Assistant Coach Glenn Brands reported the following Husky Scores: Drew Schemper, 19; Kai Cox, 10; Aaron Estes-Hendrickson, 6; Jeremiah Hansen, 5; Brody Preston, 5.

Their win moves the J.V. Huskies undefeated record to 7-0.
