HS BB Boys 1/22/21

On Friday, Jan. 22 in Almena, the NVHS boys basketball team defeated the Weskan Coyotes by a score of 82-33.

"The Huskies started out hot and paced to a 21-1 lead after one period," said Husky Head Coach Kevin Sides.  "They extended the lead to halftime with what Open Spaces Sports announcer Clint Cox would say a "Fitty" {50} to go into the locker with a lead of 50-17.  Sides led the team with 19 on five treys, followed by Brands with 14, Loya 12, and Thalheim with 9.

Nine kids scored and 11 kids played minutes.  I was very pleased with how we played tonight.  We had 17 assists and kept our turnovers to a minimum with the style of play we're playing.  We also had our most efficient night of shooting, 56%, 43%, and 90%.  This is our fourth straight win and the kids are playing with great confidence."

Scoring for the Huskies were: Bailey Sides, 19; Foster Brands, 14; Eric Loya, 12; Kenton Thalheim, 9; Tharen Cox, 7; Colton Bailey, 6; Jeremiah Hansen, 6; Drew Schemper, 6; Clay Preston, 3.

In J.V. action, the Huskies beat the Coyotes 35-6.  Scoring for the Huskies were: Drew Schemper 21; Jeremiah Hansen, 10; Body Preston, 2; Kai Cox, 2.
