Lady Huskies WKLL Tournaments

The Lady Huskies' basketball squad competed in the Western Kansas Liberty League (WKLL) Basketball Tournament in Grinnell and Colby during the first week of February.

During their first bracket play, the Lady Huskies fell to Golden Plains 79-32 on Tuesday, Feb. 2 in Grinnell.  "Golden Plains is a consistently good team," said Head NVHS Head Coach Jodi Cox.  "Our girls did so many good things. We out-rebounded them on the defensive end, we doubled our average free-throw percentage and we took a lot of good shots that just didn't fall.  Austyn Cox had a great offensive game finishing with 22 points.  We are only the second team to score over 30 points against Golden Plains this year.  Our girls continue to improve and Coach Hansen and I are super proud of their efforts."

Scoring for the Lady Huskies against Golden Plains: Austyn Cox, 22; Shaylee Vsetecka, 6; Jayden Speer, 2; Braxton Cox, 2.

On Thursday, Feb. 4 the Lady Huskies came away with their hard-fought and exciting basketball win of the season, defeating the Western Plains/Healy Bobcats 51-18 in Grinnell, during their second round play of the WKLL Tournament.
