NVHS Boys finish regular basketball season strong

The NVHS boys' varsity basketball squad finished their regular season with a strong road win in Rexford on Friday, Feb. 19, defeating the Golden Plains Bulldogs 69-28.

"The Huskies had four players in double figures as Brands led with 14 points, Loya secured 13, Tharen Cox garnered 10, and Colton Bailey had 10.  Sides chipped in 9," reported Husky Head Coach Kevin Sides.

"I was pleased with our intensity tonight, playing a lesser-talented team.  With a very young and inexperienced team to start our year, this team has grown up fast and they are playing some good, team ball.  We took care of business and our eyes are set on post-season play."

Scoring for the Huskies against the Golden Plains Bulldogs were: Foster Brands, 14; Eric Loya, 13; Tharen Cox, 10; Colton Bailey, 10; Bailey Sides, 9; Kai Cox, 4; Kenton Thalheim, 3, Jeremiah Hansen, 3; Clay Preston, 3.

In junior varsity action, the J.V. Huskies finished their regular season boasting an undefeated 12-0 record, after defeating the Bulldogs 42-17. "These boys had a great season, and they really showed up to play every single game," said Assistant Coach Glenn Brands.

After three quarters of J.V. play, the following Huskies scored against the Bulldogs: Kai Cox, 13; Jeremiah Hansen, 9; Jason Cox, 8; Brody Preston, 6; Aaron Estes-Henrickson, 6.
