'The Lady Huskies took on the Alma Cardinals on Tuesday, February 8th. The Lady Huskies came in battling injuries and illness but still came out with a strong effort and fought the entire game. The final score of the game was 18-54. The Cardinals were able to get up early and keep pushing their lead through the game. Scoring came difficult with the length and aggressiveness of the Cardinals. Scoring for the Huskies: Braxton Cox- 8, Shaylee Vsetecka- 6, Delaney Sides- 4. The Huskies look to rebound against Tri-Plains/Brewster on Friday February 11th in Winona.'
'The state lines were blurred when the Alma, Nebraska Cardinals traveled to face the Huskies in basketball action on Tuesday, Feb. 8. Northern Valley's varsity boys improved their winning streak to 15-1, after smoothly defeating the Cardinals 62-23 in Almena. "After coming off our WKLL Tournament win on Saturday night, we played extremely well," Head Husky Coach Kevin Sides reported on their Alma win. "We reviewed film earlier in practice, and worked to correct some of our tournament mistakes. We are playing like we did earlier in the season. When we play defense, push the pace and share the ball - we are a very good team!" Senior Eric Loya displayed his basketball prowess, scoring 24 points for the Huskies. Fellow Senior Bailey Sides followed, scoring 10 in limited minutes. Single-digit scorers for the varsity Huskies were: Jeremiah Hansen, 8 points; Kenton Thalheim, 7; Foster Brands, 4; Brody Preston, 4; Drew Schemper, 3; Gabriel Rudd, 2. During the junior varsity matchup, the Huskies won by a thin margin. After four quarters of basketball action, Northern Valley defeated Alma 49-44. Three Sophomores led their squad in double-digit scores. Jason Cox, Brody Preston and Gabe Rudd all secured 12 points for the Huskies. Drew Schemper made 9 points while Aaron Henrickson added 4 points to the J.V. team. The Huskies will travel to take on Triplains/Brewster this Friday, Feb. 11 for their next basketball road trip.'
