The Northern Valley Junior High hosted the Heartland Christian Crusaders, earning their sixth win of the season. Due to a lack of numbers at Heartland Christian, we only played A-team games, but every girl got minutes on the court. Our focus was on using every possession and numerous passes to find the best shot opportunities. The girls averaged six passes per possession, and after cleaning up their defense in the second half and multiple steals, the girls kept the lead throughout the game. All five starters contributed to the scoring. Annika McKinney led the team with 11 points, followed closely by Cambrie Sproul with 10. Inez Schemper had 5 points and 10 rebounds.

The Northern Valley Junior High traveled to Logan to take on the Logan/Palco Trojans. After taking a loss to them at the Christmas Tournament, the Lady Huskies were ready to play. The first quarter felt a little chaotic, but the girls found some rhythm in the second quarter. We still have a lot of confidence to build when handling pressure, but the girls moved the ball well and had good shot attempts. In the fourth quarter we had numerous bad passes but kept the lead winning 19-14. Inez Schemper led the team with 6 points followed by Annika McKinney with 5 points and 11 rebounds.
Assistant Coach McKinney’s Comments -
The B-team girls started the game little sluggish but were able to find some open spots on the floor. The most exciting accomplishments were found on some great seals by the post players and drives by the guards. Six players contributed to the B-team girls’ first win of the season. Inez Schemper led the team with 5 points.

The Northern Valley Junior High hosted the Golden Plains Bulldogs for their last game of 2025. The Lady Huskies had a slow start ending the first quarter 2-4 but the girls did not settle. They picked up their hustle, communicated more on defense, and moved the ball better on offense. The girls had 44 shot attempts and only 7 turnovers pulling away from the Lady Bulldogs. The 26-19 win puts their record 4-2 going into the Christmas break. Annika McKinney led the team with 10 points and 9 rebounds followed by Cambrie Sproul and Avreigh McCue with 6 points each.
Assistant Coach McKinney’s Comments -
The NV B-team girls one quarter. Feeding the ball inside and rebounds were the strong points for the girls. It was exciting to see them play in an overtime situation. We will continue to focus on ball sense and stronger hands when we get back from break. Three girls contributed to the scoring including Tayah Seeders, Amora Simoneau, and Joplyn McCue with 2 points each.

The Northern Valley Junior High girls traveled to Agra, KS to compete against the Thunder Ridge Lady Longhorns. The Lady Huskies played a great game defensively, had good passes, and never gave up. The girls’ ball reversals led to numerous shot opportunities and their help defense has improved a lot. This was the first game of the season the girls played very well together as a team. Avreigh McCue led the team with 8 points followed by Inez Ryelyn Cox and Inez Schemper with 7 points each.
Assistant Coach McKinney’s Comments -
The NV B-team girls played three quarters and made great improvements on their ball movement which created openings that they recognized. Their effort was tremendous! Ryelyn Cox led the team with 3 points with help from three other teammates, two of which scored for the first time this season. Tayah Seeders led the team in rebounds with six.

Coach Lowry’s Comments –
The Northern Valley Junior High opened their 2025/26 basketball season in Grinnell against the Thunderhawks on November 20. The A-team girls started the game a little nervous and out of sync with each other. With every quarter, the girls worked to play as a team and controlled the pace while finding multiple opportunities to drive to the basket. Our free throw percentage was low, however the girls worked hard to get rebounds and steals ending the game 24-18. Annika McKinney led the team with 10 points, 10 rebounds, and 4 steals followed by Inez Schemper and Ryelyn Cox with 6 points each.
The B-team girls played two quarters, starting off the game timid and struggled to find rhythm. However, the effort they put in shows great promise for future games. Tayah Seeders led the team with three points.
