Northern Valley High School Track & Field On April 9th the Northern Valley High School Track & Field team traveled to Colby for the 49th Annual Triplains Invitational. The NV Girls earned 6th place. Bringing home medals were Laundry Gebhard with 2nd in the 3200m and Jordyn Cox with 3 rd in 100M Hurdles. The NV Boys came home with 3 rd place with Kenton Thalheim bringing home 1st in the 400M and Pole Vault, Gavlin Thalheim with 1st in Javelin and 2nd in Pole Vault, Owen Hammond with 1 st in the 110M Hurdles and High Jump and 3rd in Triple Jump, and Gabe Rudd with 3rd in Long Jump. Bringing home medals for the team were Kenton Thalheim with 1st in Pole Vault and Owen Hammond with 1st in High Jump. . The girls placed 6 th and the boys placed 3 rd as a team. Friday was a harder track meet against bigger schools but the kids still performed well with 7 personal records set and many athletes trying new events.” Next Friday the Huskies will travel to Osborne for the Kaiser Relays Track Meet.

The Husky Varsity and JV were both out at meets on April 9th. The JV headed to Grinnell for the 9-hole Thunderhawk Invitational. Freshman Conner David did well in his first meet hitting a 58. Sophomore Audrey Brubaker followed with a 59 and has continued to improve in her second year golfing. Sophomore Clay Van Patten finished with a 68 and Sophomore Brooke Preston did well in her first career meet with a 69. These four will travel to Oxford, NE for another 9-hole completion on April 11th. The varsity squad headed to Shady Bend Golf Course in Osborne for a full 18 holes. Junior Robert Vsetecka led the way with a very strong shooting day with a 93 which was good for a 13th place finish. Seniors Jason Cox and Jeremiah Hansen shot 99 and 100 for 18th and 22nd place finishes, respectively. The varsity's next meet is a "home" meet at Norton on April 19th. Northern Valley High School Track & Field On April 4th the Northern Valley High School Track & Field team traveled to Norton for their first track meet of the season. A total of twelve teams competed at the Norton Invitational. Northern Valley set 8 personal records (PRs) for the day by 5 athletes. Owen Hammond PR’d in three out of four events bringing home 1st in High Jump and 3rd in the 300M Hurdles. Also bringing home medals were Kenton Thalheim with 2nd in the pole vault and 3rd in the 400M and Gabriel Rudd with 2nd in Long Jump. Coach Hansen, “Even though we missed some practice days due to weather the athletes performed well for our first track meet. Setting 8 PRs our first meet out is a great start and I am looking forward to what we can accomplish in the rest of this season. Great job to all of the athletes.” The Huskies will travel to Colby for the Triplains meet on Tuesday and on Friday to Hill City. The Huskies' Golf Team took on the Smith Center Golf Meet relocated to Phillipsburg on April 2nd. The Huskies competed well against the field with two returning state competitors from last season in Senior Jason Cox and Junior Robert Vsetecka as well as first year golfers in Seniors Jeremiah Hansen and Kenton Thalheim. The team did very well, fighting a strong wind for the entire meet, and shaking off the first meet nerves. Jeremiah Hansen finished 23rd with a 101. Robert Vsetecka finished 24th with a 102. Kenton Thalheim finished tied for 34th with a 114. The Varsity Squad will head to their next meet in Osborne on Tuesday, April 9th. The JV Huskies will have two meets to start their season in Grinnell on the 9th and in Oxford, NE on the 11th

The Northern Valley National Honor Society will induct six new members on Monday, March 25, 2024, at 7 pm in the high school auditorium. All are welcome to attend and enjoy refreshments after the program.

NHS Invitation
The Northern Valley FFA AG mechanics team went to Goodland and competed yesterday. The team included Kenton Thalheim, Maverick Rogers, Gavin Thalheim, and Owen Hammond. The team was judged and scored as an individual and as a whole. As a team they placed 3rd in Construction, 7th in Electrical, and 9th in Welding. Individually they placed overall as follows. Kenton placed 13th, Maverick placed 20th, Owen placed 26th, and Gavin placed 33rd. Congratulations to the AG mechanics team!
