The Lady Huskies played the Coyotes next winning 25-17, 25-10. Coach Hansen commented, “It is always nice to walk away with two wins but improvements in our intensity and fundamentals will be essential as we start the second half of our season and work towards playoffs.” Thursday night did not start off the way the Huskies wanted, losing to the Railroaders in a 2-set match, 11-25, 25-27. “In the first set we just struggled with the little things and getting into an offensive game. The second set was a battle until the end with the Huskies making some great plays.” Coach Hansen said. The Lady Huskies ended their night playing the Crusaders. The Crusaders started off strong and ready to play, winning the first set 25-23 but the Huskies regathered themselves and won the next two sets 25-17, 25-23. The Lady Huskies Junior Varsity also got some court time Thursday against the Crusaders. Coach Lowry commented, “Northern Valley JV girls compete against Colby in two sets. The girls found themselves behind in the first set but worked hard to come back for a 25-21 win. In the second set, they found a little bit more momentum and continued to go after everything, winning 25-12. Each week the girls prove that they can work harder.” Husky Overall Record: 13-6 (Varsity) Husky Overall Record: 3-2-2 (JV) Head Coach-Lacey Hansen Assistant Coach-Emily Lowry

High School Football game for Homecoming! We had a really good opponent in Ingalls this week, as they scored 106 points in there first two games. We moved the ball well all night, but turned the ball over on downs near our goal line early in the game. This gave them momentum & left us behind 16 to 18 at halftime. We made some adjustments at halftime mainly in our run game and came out running the ball well in the second half. Nolan Kinderkencht led the team with 118 rushing yds. and Jeremiah Hansen netted 106 rushing yds. Our passing game improved this week and Kenton Thalheim threw for 2 TDs and caught 1 TD. On defense, we struggled early, but played better in the 2nd half against a very talented offense. The main key was causing 4 turnovers, 3 of those in the 2nd Half. Kenton Thalheim and Gavin Thalheim both had 14 total tackles, Jason Cox had 13 total tackles and Peyton David had 11 total tackles. Overall, it was a great win for the team with it being Homecoming. The win moves us to 3-0 and sets up a big game next week at Cheylin who also comes in undefeated and highly rated. Thank you to the fans that attended!

Week 1 8/31/23 - JH Huskies Volleyball Travel to Grinnell A Team - Lost 25-16; 25-6 B Team - Lost 25-6; 25-9 The Huskies took on a very good serving Grinnell team and unfortunately, the night did not go how we hoped. The girls put in an extreme amount of fight and effort and came up short in their serve-receive efforts. The B Team Girls showed energy and understanding in their rotation working hard on their goals of getting a good pass up and a serve over. The A-Team had many great efforts to save the ball, including a rally that went back and forth over the net 8 times with two diving saves for us to win the point! The fight was there, and it will be a wonderful skill the Huskies keep expanding on! Coach Thalheim and Coach McKinney are proud of the girls and excited to see what we do with the first game under our belts! Below are the stats for the A-team game. Aces: Haedyn Cox 2 Kills: Kaylee Miller 2 Assists: Haedyn Cox 2 Digs: Rene Horacek 2, Haedyn Cox 1 Serve-Receive Average(3 is the highest average for the most passes to our setter): Haedyn Cox 3, Rene' Horacek 2.14
