We are excited to announce the replacement of our stage curtains from more than 50 years ago. With the help of numerous contributors, Northern Valley Middle School in Long Island has a new look. This project was made possible by numerous grants and donations; some local (ie. First National Bank and Trust in Long Island) and some from as far away as Bishop, California. We received grants sponsored by the Phillips County Community Foundation and the Dane G. Hansen Foundation. In addition to the back and side curtains being replaced, we have ordered new front curtains to be replaced this summer, and the fifth grade class purchased the new mat with their fundraiser money. The eighth-grade graduating class of 2025 was the first to show off the new back curtains at their ceremony on May 19th. In addition, the stage floor was redone, which provided a beautiful background for the program. The NV Middle School students, faculty, and staff would like to thank anyone who has been able to contribute to our project. The new curtains will be displayed next year at our home volleyball games, spring play, and concerts.

The Geometry class ended their year by constructing houses from popsicle sticks. On the last day of school, we auctioned off each house, starting with a minimum bid. The minimum bid was set after calculating construction costs and up-charging 20%. Students were given a certain amount to spend as they entered the gym. Things got a little excited when students started putting their money together.

Christina was the proud owner of the first house sold!
Clay bought a house when he accidentally raised his hand while having a conversation with friends.
These boys pooled their money to purchase Conner's house.
This group of girls pooled their money to buy this million dollar home made by Jaycee.
Here is the information for the Oberlin track meet today. Good luck tracksters, Go Big Green!

The Husky Golf Team had Regionals at St Francis this year with a chance to punch a ticket to state competition. The top three teams at Regionals get to go by having the lowest score of the top four scorers from that team. The Huskies with only three members on the team, could only send golfers to state if they filled in the next five at-large spots to golfers not on one of the top three teams. Senior Robert Vsetecka shot a 91 at +21 to earn his way to State 1A Golf at Dodge City! Conner David came close with a 95 at +25 after a couple of frustrating holes that ended his season. Conner had shown a lot of growth as a Sophomore and has a lot of golf left over the next couple years. Audrey Mathews had a rough day but kept going to finish out her season with a 145 at +75. Although she didn't finish how she'd like to, she kept a good attitude and that's a win somedays on the golf course. Robert will travel with Coach Pugh down to Dodge City for a practice round on May 26th and the first round begins May 27th at 9 am at Mariah Hills Golf Course. Western Kansas Liberty League – Junior High Track Meet – 2025 Coach Cole; The Northern Valley Junior Huskies traveled to Logan on Thursday morning to compete in the league track meet. This would end up being the windiest track meet of the season, but the wind would help the team to multiple personal bests on the day. Going into the track meet, I made a heat sheet and would predict that we would score 73 points and get 4th place at the meet if everything panned out. At the end of the meet, the boys would end with 69 points and tie for 3rd place! We had an excellent day, and I was very proud of all the boys hard work. This was a great track season, and I am very excited for next year. The boys team sported throwback uniforms from 2005. The Husky golf team competed in Plainville at the JV Showcase on May 8th. It was a full 18-hole competition beginning at 9 am with 44 golfers. Conner David took home second place with an 84 at +14. Robert Vsetecka took home 6th place with a 90 to end at +20. Audrey Mathews finished with a 107 at +37 in 25th place. The Huskies next competition will be at Phillipsburg on May 13th where Robert and Conner will be paired against other top golfer pairings for a 2-man competition. Audrey will golf individually due to the odd number of golfers on the Husky team.
