Northern Valley High School Track & Field
On April 22nd the Northern Valley High School Track & Field team traveled to Logan for the
Logan High Invitational.
The NV Girls earned 6th place overall. Bringing home medals were Haedyn Cox with 3
rd in
pole vault and high jump, Jaycee Gebhard with 3rd in triple jump, Jordyn Cox with 2
nd in the
300m hurdles and 3
rd
in the 100m hurdles. The NV girls 4 x 400 relay also earned a 2nd place
finish ran by Haedyn Cox, Haley Hansen, Jordyn Cox, and Jaycee Gebhard
The NV Boys came home with 3
rd place with Gavin Thalheim bringing home 1st in the javelin,
Zane Brown with 3
rd in triple jump, Lucas Hansen with 2nd in the 200, Caden Lowry with 2nd
in the 3200M, and Owen Hammond with 1
st in the 300m hurdles, 2
nd in high jump and the
110m hurdles, and 3

Coach Hansen, “Tuesday was a beautiful day, and the kids all performed well. We had
another 7 PRs set showing growth in our athletes which will continue to be important as we
continue this season and prepare for regionals.” On Friday, the Huskies will travel to
Osborne for the Kaiser Relays Track Meet.

Northern Valley Middle School Girls Track
The Northern Valley Middle School traveled to Logan, KS, for another beautiful day of running, jumping, and throwing. Multiple personal records were set again as the Junior Husky girls work to compete for the gold.
The 7/8th girls combined placed third out of 9 schools with 72 combined points. Silve medals were given to Cambrie Sproul in the 200m hurdles, Brielle Britton in the 200m dash, and Shelby Lentz in the 800m dash. Bronze medals were given to Tayah Seeders in the high jump, Cambrie Sproul in the 100m hurdles, Brielle Britton in the 100m dash, and the 800m medley team.
In the sixth-grade division, we had two girls participating, each placing in multiple events. Inez Schemper and Jaycee Houser earned 36 points total, and combined with the 6th grade boys earned 103 points placing third overall. Inez got gold in the javelin and silver in the shot and discus. Jaycee earned a bronze in the 400m dash.

Jr. Husky Boys Results
The Junior High Huskies traveled 28 miles to Logan for the Logan Invitational on Tuesday. It was a cold windy morning, but the Huskies persevered to come away with lots of medals and some personal bests. The 7th/8th boys scored 70 points for 4th place, and the 6th grade boys scored 98 points for 2nd place! As a whole, the 6th grade boys ran their best track meet at Logan. Some kids were placed in different events to score points, and they did well. I was very happy with Colton Ledbetter’s performance in the mile run, taking 2nd place and keeping an outstanding pace for the entirety of the race.

Coach Hansen, “Tuesday was a good chance to compete again more league schools with
the Huskies doing very well. The girls placed 6th and the boy’s placed 4
th as a team. Friday
was a harder track meet against bigger schools, but the kids still performed well with 7
personal records set. It’s tough having three track meets in six days. Overall, I am proud of
this team and the desire to keep improving and challenging themselves.” Next Tuesday the
Huskies will travel to Logan for the Logan Invitational and then to Osborne on Friday for the
Kaiser Relays Track Meet.

The 2024-2025 annual FFA Spring Banquet is just a couple days away! Saturday, April 26th at 4:30 PM in the high school gymnasium! Dinner will be served! Join the FFA for a night of Celebration and a Silent Auction! Hope to see you there!

Northern Valley Middle School Girls Track
The Northern Valley Middle School hosted their 39th annual Husky Invitational in Stockton, KS. It was a beautiful, hot day on the track as the Junior Husky girls worked to improve their times and distances. Many of the girls had personal records in multiple events.
The 7/8th girls combined brought home bronze medals in four events: Cambrie Sproul in high jump and the 200m hurdles, Shelby Lentz in the 800m, and the 800m medley relay team. As a team they placed third overall out of 11 schools.
In the sixth-grade division, Inez Schemper had a good day taking home a silver in shotput and 4th place in discus. The combined girls’ and boys’ team were fifth overall out of ten schools.

The Northern Valley boys had a wonderful day at the 40th Annual Husky Invitational Meet held in Stockton, KS. Quite a few NV boys competed in different events at this meet, and some found better success. We also filled out all the relays, and the best was the JH Boys in the 800-sprint medley relay. 11 teams attended, as the meet started at 2:00 p.m. and ended around 7:30 p.m. Cash Compton ran the third fastest 100m dash in school history! (12.15 seconds)

On a hot and muggy day that started with no wind and ended with 30 mph winds, the Husky golf team had a great day of golf.
The Husky team, consisting of Robert Vsetecka, Conner David, and Audrey Brubaker headed north of the border for a 9-hole JV tournament in Oxford, NE. Four teams participated, with a small field of 11 golfers.
Robert took home first place with a 45 at +9 over par. Conner also shot a good round and finished with a 48 at +12 over to finish in second place. Audrey shot a much-improved round to finish with a 64. Overall, it was a great showing of talent and effort and a great day of golf!
The Huskies next meet will be April 24th for the Norton Varsity Meet.





The Northern Valley High School forensics team made a trip to Ransom for their last regular season tournament of the year. Participants were seniors Caden Lowry and Serenity Porter, sophomore Maddie Wilder and freshman Abby Samuelson.
Abby and Maddie took an IDA and participated very well.
Maddie took an impromptu and also did very well!
Serenity took an impromptu and placed 2nd for the meet! This qualifies her for state championships in this event.
Caden took an impromptu and placed 5th. He also took an Oration, which is a persuasive speech and placed 2nd for the meet! This also qualifies him for state championships in this event.
Now we prepare for our Forensics Showcase on April 29th at 6:30 at NVHS. We invite everybody!
Also, the state championship tournament in McPherson on May 3rd!

The Northern Valley Husky Golf Team participated at the Osborne Invitational on April 15th. Robert Vsetecka faired the best of the Huskies shooting an 87 on the day at +15 to par. Robert medaled with his 12th place finish. Conner David also had a good day and shot a career best with a 99 at +27 to par. He finished 26th out of 51 golfers. Audrey Mathews had a rough day with a 148 in her first meet of the year.
Overall, it was a good meet to attend for both the challenges of the course and the level of competition from the field. The Huskies will next travel to Oxford, Nebraska for a JV tournament on April 17th.
