The Lady Huskies kicked off their 2024 Volleyball season Friday night against the St Francis Indians and the Cheylin Cougars. The Lady Huskies, returning only two varsity starters this year, fought hard both games as a team. The Huskies fell to St Francis 7-25 the first set but got their nerves out and came back to win the second set 25-22. The final set was a battle all the way to the end with the Huskies falling 23-25. The Huskies ended their night against Cheylin winning the first set 25-17. Unfortunately the Cougars defeated the Huskies in set two 21-25 and set three 18-25. Coach Hansen quote, “We knew coming into tonight that these games were to see where we needed to focus. This group of girls have a lot of heart and they do not give up on anything. They played well together, showing a lot of potential for the season. Grit, Resilience, & Determination are some of the focuses for this season and we are excited to see where the season will take us. We will learn from these losses and put the work in to get better.” Stand out team stats (for the night): Serve % as a team- 96.4% Kills - Delaney led with 14 Blocks - Tatum with 3 The JV got to see some successful court playing time beating St. Francis 25-22 both sets. The second game against Cheylin proved to be a tougher game with the Huskies falling 19-25, 12-25. Coach Lowry said, "The NV girls worked hard to figure out their offense in the first game of the season. It was a fun win against St Francis but the girls felt a little more competition with Cheylin. We have a lot of work to do but I'm proud of that they accomplished.” The Huskies will travel to Wheatland on the 3rd to play Wheatland-Grinnell and Cheylin followed by another home game on the 5th against Thunder Ridge and Plainville. Today the Northern Valley 1st and 2nd grade classes got to learn about auctioneers and what they do. They got to participate in their very own live auction. They got to bid on fun size Reese or 3 Musketeers. The cheapest one sold for $54 and the most expensive went for $50,000. Thank you so much to Mrs. Knuths friend Clay Patton at Marshall Auction.
